An English-style 'Dramatic Garden' adapted for Hokkaido's climate.
Ueno Farm began as a family rice farm in 1906. In the 2000s, manager Ueno Sayuki studied gardening in England and returned to plant a perennial garden suited to Hokkaido's harsh climate, drawing visitors well beyond the local community. The Purple Walk, White Birch Path, and Mirror Border are planted in English country garden style, while the Naya Cafe occupies a converted hay barn with soaring ceilings. A former military shooting range called Shateki Mountain offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding paddies and Asahikawa region. The farm is open daily except Mondays from late April to mid-October.
