東京タワー
Iconic symbol of Tokyo and postwar resurgence, predating Skytree as the city's defining architectural landmark.
Completed in 1958 at 333 meters, Tokyo Tower still holds its place as one of the city's most recognizable landmarks, painted in orange and white for aviation safety rather than Eiffel grey. Two observation decks offer different experiences: the Main Deck at 150 meters gives broad city views, while the Top Deck at 250 meters adds geometric mirrors and ambient lighting for a more theatrical feel. Evening visits are particularly rewarding, when seasonal LED illumination transforms the lattice framework. Though Tokyo Skytree is now taller, views of the tower from Shiba Park or Roppongi Hills remain some of the most satisfying in the city.
