Shrine and temple stamps issued by religious institutions across Japan are called goshuin (“crimson seals”).
Teradomari's collection of shrines and temples along a traditional 1-kilometer streetscape makes it well suited for a goshuin pilgrimage. Goshuin are handwritten crimson seal stamps given by religious institutions, historically awarded for sutra copying and now sought as travel mementos. Five sites in Teradomari currently offer seals: Shomyoji Temple, Shirayamahime Shrine, Hofukuji Temple during its autumn Tsuwabuki Festival, Shotokuji Temple, and Yosenji Temple, which issues hogoin sermon seals rather than standard goshuin. Several require advance calls to confirm staff availability.
