Sasagawa Nagare is an eleven-kilometer stretch of coastline north of central Murakami that is popular among swimmers in summer.
Sasagawa Nagare stretches 11 kilometers along the Japan Sea coast north of Murakami, where cliffs, coves, and rock formations shaped by constant ocean wind create a dramatic shoreline. National Road 345 winds along the edge, giving good views from the car. Between April and October, sightseeing boats depart from Kuwagawa Port nine times daily for a 40-minute cruise through the inlets. Winter brings storms that sometimes fill the coves with sea foam. The coast is also a source of large rock oysters in winter and spring, and a traditional salt workshop on shore still boils seawater in small batches.
