Ritsurin Garden
garden
栗林公園
Well-known 1700s garden featuring formal landscaping, ponds, bridges, a teahouse & a boat ride.
One of Japan's finest landscape gardens, Ritsurin took over a century to complete and showcases the refined aesthetics of the Edo period through its 75 acres of sculpted pine trees, lotus ponds, and tea houses. The garden incorporates Mount Shiun as borrowed scenery, creating ever-changing vistas as you walk the meandering paths. Glide across the South Lake in a traditional wooden boat for perspectives the garden's feudal lords once enjoyed.
