大川の滝
88-meter waterfall on Yakushima cascading in two streams to an emerald plunge pool, a must-visit natural site.
Oko Falls on Yakushima drops 88 meters in two powerful streams down a sheer rock face into a pool of deep emerald water. Listed among Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, it is one of the island's easiest natural wonders to reach, accessible via a short path from the parking area. Mist drifts across the viewing platform and subtropical ferns surround the basin in every direction. Visit after heavy rainfall when the twin streams swell to full volume. The surrounding forest of giant ferns and moss-covered boulders creates the same primeval atmosphere that earned Yakushima its UNESCO World Heritage designation.
