野底マーペー
Casual dining spot near the famous Mape mountain, good for refueling.
A 282-meter peak in northern Ishigaki with a short but steep 20-minute trail through subtropical forest to a rocky summit. The panoramic view from the top spans the Pacific Ocean, the East China Sea, and the surrounding Yaeyama islands on clear days. The peak takes its name from a Ryukyuan legend about a young woman named Mape who climbed the mountain searching for her lover and turned to stone at the summit. The trailhead is off Route 79 with a small parking area.
