Kabira Bay
landmark
川平湾
Emerald sea, white sand, and coastal forest converge at Ishigaki Island's most scenic natural bay.
Often called the most beautiful bay in Okinawa, Kabira Bay stuns with its emerald and sapphire water set against fine white sand and a backdrop of forested hills. Swimming is not permitted due to strong currents and black pearl cultivation, but glass-bottom boat tours glide over the coral gardens and reveal tropical fish, sea turtles, and giant clams below the surface. The bay changes color dramatically depending on the time of day and cloud cover, overcast mornings can turn it a moody slate blue, while afternoon sun brings out electric greens.
