岩崎本舗 西浜町店
Famous for Nagasaki Kakuni Manju (tender braised pork belly in a steamed bun).
Kakuni Manju is Nagasaki's most beloved street food, a soft steamed bun filled with slowly braised pork belly that has been cooking in soy sauce, mirin, and sugar until it collapses at the slightest pressure. Iwasaki Honpo is the shop most associated with this dish in the city, and they sell them from a counter in the Hamano-machi arcade area. Each bun is served hot from the steamer. One is satisfying, two is ideal, and they pair well with the shop's ginger-seasoned pickled vegetables sold alongside.
