甘酒茶屋
A 400-year-old thatched-roof teahouse on the old Tokaido road serving amazake and mochi by an open hearth.
This remarkable teahouse has refreshed travelers walking the Tokaido road between Edo and Kyoto since the early 1600s. The current thatched-roof building preserves the atmosphere of that era, guests sit on tatami around an irori (sunken hearth) while drinking sweet, non-alcoholic amazake and eating charcoal-grilled mochi. The cedar forest location along the old stone-paved road feels like a genuine time portal.
