青島ビーチ
Tropical beach facing a tiny island wrapped in natural rock formations and surrounded by palm-lined shores.
Aoshima Beach fronts a tiny subtropical island connected to the Miyazaki coastline by a pedestrian bridge, creating one of southern Kyushu's most distinctive coastal landscapes. The island itself is encircled by the "Devil's Washboard," rows of naturally formed wave-cut rock platforms that extend outward like geological steps into the Pacific. A compact but lush botanical garden covers the island's interior with palms, cycads, and tropical plants that thrive in Miyazaki's warm climate. At the island's center, Aoshima Shrine is draped in colorful ema (prayer plaques) and is popular for prayers related to romance and safe sea voyages. The beach is a favorite among surfers, and the warm Kuroshio Current makes swimming comfortable from May through October.
